Liters, gallons and quarts often appear together in recipes, product labels, bottles, fuel containers and tank sizes. The main risk is assuming that “gallon” or “quart” is just a rounded liter value.

Use Liters to Gallons, Gallons to Liters, Liters to Quarts or Quarts to Liters when the exact amount matters.

Recipes tolerate different rounding than containers

A recipe can often handle a small rounding difference. A tank, bottle or chemical container may need a much tighter conversion.

Watch US and imperial gallons

Most web tools use US liquid gallons unless stated otherwise. Imperial gallons are larger, so always check the context.

Keep the source unit

When sharing a converted amount, keep the original value nearby. It helps anyone verify the conversion later.
