Metric and imperial conversions are easiest when you focus on the situations people actually meet: product sizes, recipes, travel distances, body weight, room measurements and weather.
Use a converter when precision matters. For quick length checks, start with Inches to Centimeters or Centimeters to Inches. For weight, use Kilograms to Pounds or Pounds to Kilograms.
Do not memorize every factor
A few rough anchors help, but exact work should use the real conversion. One inch is 2.54 centimeters, and one kilogram is about 2.20462 pounds.
Round based on the job
Furniture, packaging and shipping often need more precision than casual estimates. Recipes and weather can usually tolerate simpler rounding.
Convert the final number
If a calculation has multiple steps, keep the original units until the end. Converting too early can add rounding errors.
